Matt Levine, DealBreaker, SEC Doesn’t Want Fabrice Tourre Telling A Jury That The Guys He Ripped Off Deserved It, here. At least Ritholtz backed off his odd take on the Abacus trial, here. I am putting Ritholtz in the reevaluation-of-their-judgement box. Sorkin’s piece seemed reasonable at the outset. Big Picture’s links are pretty good but the prose can veer off into outer space at times (and he’s an asset manager so you cannot really trust him from the get go in this whole honeypot website situation). Let’s hope Ritholtz doesn’t become a Yves Smith clone.
Fabulous Fab Tourre is on his way to trial in the SEC’s securities-fraud lawsuit over the Abacus synthetic CDO he built at Goldman Sachs for John Paulson, and Andrew Ross Sorkin has a column today about all the things that the SEC doesn’t want him to be allowed to say to the jury. You should read it, it’s enraging, though who you get enraged at is entirely up to you.
